Gerry’s Group of Restaurants brought another exciting gastronomic destination in Cebu last July 2015. Yakitori Bincho-Tan, a restaurant founded by Chef Nori in Hokkaido, Japan opened its maiden branch in Cebu at Lightsite Parc, Mandaue City. Gerry’s group has partnered with the original owners of Yakitori Bincho-Tan – Chefs Yoshi Ishise, Tomio Hakada and Nori Suzuki. They are also the chefs behind Ramen Sora which opened last March 2015 specialising in Ramen prepared the Sapporo way.
Yakitori is a Japanese term for skewered food cooked in a grill. Bicho-Tan on the other hand is a special kind of charcoal that brings out the taste of skewered food. This kind of charcoal also packs so much heat and does not emit smoke, which allows the full flavor of the food to come out.
Yakitori Bincho-Tan aims to provide authentic Yakitori dishes to Cebuanos using the original recipes of Chef Nori’s grandfather and by cooking using Bincho-Tan.
The dishes offered at Yakitori Bincho-Tan includes grilled pork, chicken and vegetables. Sushi rolls and Japanese salads are also available for appetizer.
Tiger Roll, the tuna, salmon and shrimp are fresh and doesn’t have that fishy taste. The mildly sweet and creamy sauce also adds an exciting flavors in your mouth. If you’re not a Nori person, you’ll love this dish because it’s not overpowering.
Teriyaki Chicken Salad, made with fresh greens, chicken chunks, cherry tomatoes, nuts, corn kernel and mushrooms then drizzled with teriyaki sauce and Japanese mayonnaise.
The chicken thighs are grilled using Bincho-Tan charcoal which makes the meat flavorful, juicy and tender. It also has that smokey taste which we all love when it comes to grilled food. The grilled thighs comes in two flavors- Shio, cooked with salt and pepper and Tare, cooked with their house teriyaki sauce.
Yakitori Bincho-Tan is located at 2F, Lightsite Park, A.S. Fortuna St., Mandaue City. They’re open 7 days a week from 10AM till midnight.
