La Gondola, Gourmet Walk, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino
One of the nine restaurants located in one of Cebu’s famous landmark, the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino now serves Mediterranean dishes. La Gondola is known as a haven when it comes to Italian cuisine and recently, they added more choices to their customers by expanding their menu to showcase Mediterranean culinary masterpieces.
Shaved Vegetable Salad with Herbs in Vinaigrette (Php375). I’m not really a salad eater so I passed on this one. What made this salad look interesting is it has some edible flowers.
Fried Baby Calamari with Fresh Tomato Salsa (Php395)
Freshly Baked Mushroom Tart with Brie (Php395). Savory mushroom tarts baked in a puff pastry shell topped with Brie. I love cheese, and Brie is a perfect choice for this dish. It perfectly complemented the mushroom and the flakiness of the puff pastry, I can eat this everyday.
Hummus, Baba Ghanoush and Tahina with warm Moroccan Bread (Php325). I always say that I can live with bread alone and I mean it. I love how you are given with three choices of dip that will go with your bread. To those who are not familiar with Baba Ghanoush, it’s a cooked eggplant mashed together with Tahina, onions, tomatoes, olive oil and some seasonings. The 3 dips are perfect pair with a hot Morocan bread and my favorite was the Hummus dip.
Creamy Mushroom Soup with Parmesan Foam and Truffle Oil (Php395) I’m not really a fan of truffle oil but this one is an exception. The truffle oil is not overpowering and the Parmesan Foam gives an extra creaminess to the soup.
Homemade Fettucini with Seafood. The pasta is al dente and the tomato sauce is not too sour, just right to coat the pasta and balance the taste.
Mushroom Risotto with Fresh Thyme (Php395)
Tuna Pizza with Olives, Zucchini, Basil, Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Mozzarella Cheese (Php395)
Sicilian Style Baked Salmon with Tomato Olive Sauce, Green Beans and Polenta (Php765)
Grilled Angus Beef Tenderloin Steaks with Arugula, Aged Balsamic and Roasted Potatoes (Php895). The Angus beef was perfectly grilled, savory, tender and it melts in your mouth.
Black Paella with Garlic Sauce and Lemon (Php695). La Gondola’s version of Black Paella is delicious. I like how the color of the paella was ink black and made the seafood toppings pop out visually. The garlic sauce and the lemon also balanced the fishy taste of the squid ink and seafood that goes with it.
