The New York Cronut craze has hit the shores of Cebu with restaurants and bakeries started selling the hybrid croissant-doughnut pastry. The Cronut is a trademarked croissant-doughnut pastry that was created by chef Dominique Ansel at Dominque Ansel Bakery in Manhattan, New York last May. It has since became a hit with people queuing overnight just to get a taste of Cronut.
Madeleine in Waterfront Cebu City Hotels and Casino is one of the few stores in Cebu that sells Cronut. The new Executive Pastry Chef of Waterfront Cebu, Chef Adam created its own version called Dossantz which comes in 4 flavors, Vanilla, Mango, Strawberry and Cinnamon. The Dossantz is deep fried which gives a crispy outer crust and airy layers of dough inside, It’s flaky like a croissant but soft and chewy as a doughnut. What makes the Dossantz even more exciting to eat are the toppings and fillings. My personal favorites are Vanilla and Mango because the flavors complements the taste of the bread very well. I hope they add more flavors to choose from soon.
If you want to try Cronut in Cebu, Dossantz are available at Madeleine in Waterfront Cebu City Hotels and Casino, Thursday to Saturday from 3PM onwards. You may also pre-order by calling 032-232 6888 local 8629.
